Another edition of the classic ATV gameshow The Golden Shot. Here the new titles get a premiere plus you get a nice view out of the side of ATV looking across Bridge Street...

  • What a wonderful find. And how amazing I'm still alive. lol. I do have a further clip from that show. Shall post up on my youtube page sometime. :) xx

  • @CherriGilham nice to see someone who was part of the show! how did you like birmingham?

  • How come this was filmed in B&W? The last Bob Monkhouse edition (before he was sacked) was in glorious colour. This edition comes after that!

  • @Markjuk This film recording would have been made for overseas sales, the original colour VT would have been reused almost immediately. There are only a handful of editions remaining!

  • marvellous clip !

im sure if norman was still around he would give it a thumbs up !

  • @Markjuk I think the colour copy you've seen was the one Bob kept in his shed, as seen on the recent BBC4 documentary. All those episodes he had were originally thought lost.

  • @MrBacktothenineties If it was a joke it wasn't a funny one.. actually comes across as quite sinister, maybe Bob was behind that an' all! ;-)

  • Norro was amiable and well-meaning, but he lacked the professional sheen of Bobbo.

Such bonny blonde lasses from 1972!

  • I actually remember when Norman Vaughan hosted the show and I was only about 4 at the time, I also remember Charlie Williams hosting it later on and then Bob came back around 1975. My brother used to complain about how bad Norman Vaughan and Charlie Williams were at hosting. A similar comparison is when Max Bygraves took over Family Fortunes and made a right pigs ear of it.

  • ATV sacked Bob Monkhouse from the Golden Shot beacsue it said that Bob was taking bribes to highlight products from certain producers. ATV did not really have any proof. ATV hired Norman Vaughan and Charlie Williams to host the show after that but the new hosts lost loads of viewers and were unable to maintain the show. ATV subsequently brought back Bob Monkhouse.
