Part 1 of Dom Famularo playing a drum solo. Filmed at his clinic held in John Inverarity Auditorium, Hale School, Perth, Australia on 3 August.
Please don't mind the first few minutes of shakiness.

The number of years one has played is pointless. Each drummer is free to express himself however he chooses, and it doesn't mean that every time you sit down to solo that you have to throw EVERYTHING you know into it.
Not all solos have to be structured. Many great ideas can be conceived through creative exploration, which means you don't always have to be strapped down to a groove. Dom has immense enthusiasm and an infectious approach to playing.

dom is without doubt one of the nicest most knowledgable guys in the drumming world today! i had the teal pleasure of chatting to him and thomas lang for nearly an hour at drumfest in sheffield in 2008. one of the highlights of my 38 years so far!!

Never fails, no matter what drum solo I pull up on youtube, Tavis Barker's name is inevitably associated with the video for some strange reason. Can anyone out there in youtube land explain this? I would love to know once and for all.

Barker is to drumming what ball sweat is to clean underware, an annoying stain.

Dude. This old guy doesn't have to play to a backing beat, and this "old guy"? He doesn't have to go crazy in a drum solo. The craziest he gets here is just a tasteful sample of the force of nature that is Dom. And I like travis. this isn't a critique of travis. This is a critique of you.

Travis Barker, for all of you who are saying that he's better than DOM FAMULARO (yeah, caps lock is indeed needed here), can't play 0.00000000000000001 % of what this old guy right there plays. So please, for the love of god, stop saying this kind of nonsense and go learn what true drumming is.

@JoeJacari what are you talking about? Jazz isn't about coping out, it's about expression, and feels. Also Dom is a teacher and does a lot of sessions, not just jazz. Dom is excellent, and doesn't need to spin on a riser to be good.
