I've just come across these steam engine expresses on UK rail.I've been told they run on UK rail for tourists. Still amazed at British ingenuity in revamping old technology - ref oil shortages - in such a pilot project.
Heard engine called "Duke" now outperforming many diesels, but still currently limited to 120kph. Why - when as here - so much power in reserve? When will they start replacing some ordinary service trains?
A big emerging shot out into Dawlish! Certainly a well derserved piece of work there!

They won't let steam run faster on the mainline because of the extra maintainance it would involve (for little gain in train timings).
Torbay is in South Devon (on the South Coast of SW England).
