If you want KDE on Ubuntu, or Gnome on Kubuntu you can get it by the the sudo apt-get kubuntu-desktop, or ubuntu-desktop for gnome on Kubuntu. Switching between them is just metter of seconds and whenever you want :))
I like them both especially that simple but powerful dark gnome themes for overview and Kubuntu desktop for playing with widgets, compiz, downloading wallpapers, listening music etc.

Fantastica sensazione vedere a fine 2006 il pinguino con questi strabillanti effetti.
-
when i used ununtu the only problem was that each screen had to share the same background

Kubuntu comes with KDE right of the box, while Ubuntu comes with gnome.

That's really nice video :) I think Beryl is far better than Aero or even Core Animation. But i wondered, what video editing software that you use to edit and capture this video? Thx

Beryl was awesome, (now Compiz as Beryl joined back its source). I don't remember the capture software, has to be a script I made, but now you can use a Compiz plugin to record your screen. Compiz is really better than Aero: it takes a lot to create a good effect and if you use MS apis you get something cheese. Core Animation is elegant and can do nice things with the tools shipped with OSX, but Compiz is more extensible. All this technology is growing here and there. The search is what matters.

it sure is nice to be Linux, but it would b a whole lot better if you'd put away your Queen cassette tapes and tell me how to install GNOME and BERYL. oh YeAh!!!

The project now is called compiz-fusion. Install latest version of ubuntu (gutsy gibbon, 7.10), install propietary drivers (after installation they will be offered). After that you have a very simple version of compiz, solid but very simple. If you want the full package go and google for ubuntu compiz, and there will be the explanation: its really easy, remove some packages, install others. Restart X and voilá!
