I've been studying through Isaiah for the past few months and just finished up chapter 53. What a beautiful passage. What a beautiful portrait of my Savior - the Suffering Servant. Here's my musical take on these glorious truths.
No stately form, no majesty
No outward look of great beauty
He was despised by men.
Acquainted with sorrow, He knew pain
Men hid their faces, cursed His name
Esteeming not the Son of God.
Surely our griefs He bore
Our sorrows wore.
Stricken and smitten of God
Afflicted Son, for us You've come.
He was pierced for our sin
The weight of transgression fell on Him
And by His wounds we are healed.
All we like sheep have gone astray
Each of us turned to his own way
but God has placed our guilt on Him
Surely our griefs He bore
Our sorrows wore.
Stricken and smitten of God
Afflicted Son, for us You've come
Though oppressed His mouth did not open
Just like a lamb to the slaughter He walked
He was cut off from the land of the living
That we'd be redeemed from the land of the lost.
And surely our griefs He bore
Our sorrows wore.
Stricken and smitten of God
Afflicted Son, for us You've come.
For us You've come.
For me You've come!
You've got a great song here

You know, I like this better than anything I have ever heard using this Scripture, including the great movement in Handel's :"Messiah" of the same title. What an awesome voice and good guitar work, too. 5 stars, fav'd!

I loved the line: "He was cut off from the land of the living
That we'd be redeemed from the land of the lost."
