A "diet" re-imagining of Albee's 'Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?' and seen as an unfortunate misstep in the director's career 'In a Cafe on Monmouth Street', produced by Richard Curtis, saw a commercial return, however was a critical failure.

Of, the romantic comedy label so frequently associated with the film, the director argued "this i don't need" before destroying 16 prints of the film.
