  • Aaron - are you sure this is the CA Ramblers? If this is the same disc I own (and it sounds identical) the band is identified on the label as Willard Robison and his Orch. Of course pseudonyms are always possible on these old records, but this doesn't sound like the Ramblers (ca. 1927) at all to me. Where's Adrian Rollini?

  • Yes it is the California Ramblers. They are using a pseudonym. The band is listed on the record as Meyer's Dance Orchestra and the record label is Perfect P313. When I seached google for this band it said (on multiple websites) that it was the California Ramblers.

  • The CA Ramblers did record a lot of stock arrangements, so many of their records are rather indistinct (with the exception of solo spots by people like Bobby Davis or Rollini). Perhaps this was yet another date where they just recorded stock arrangements. Still, there is nothing about this record that aurally says to my ears, "California Ramblers". But I won't argue with discographies.

  • LOL

  • "Every little breeze is sighing with love undying at sundown. Every little bird is resting and feather nesting at sundown. Each little rosebud is sleeping while shadows are creeping. In the little cottage cozy the world seems rosy at sundown. Where a loving smile will greet me and always meet me at sundown. I seem to s...igh "I'm in heaven". When the night is falling love is calling me home!"

  • this is fantastic, really great. This is the first recording that I heard of your collection, and I can't wait to hear more. I remember growing up ( I am just 45) and getting into my mums collection of the old 78s. Listening to Al Jolson, Eddy Canter, and many great singers. This brings me back to those days when I would sit for hours listening to the great songs of a time before even my mum or dad were a twinkle in my Grandparents eyes. Thanks for posting
