Where I show casting on and knitting the ribbing of the sock. If people are interested I may make another video showing how I make the remaining parts of the sock.

Here is the pattern I used, which was free on the internet.

http://www.knitting-and.com/knitting/patterns/socks/joannesboredwithkilthoses...

And I also recommend a book by Cat Bordhi called "Socks Soar on Two Circular Needles", which is how I learned the method I use. They sell it on Amazon. Here is her YT site:

http://www.youtube.com/user/catbordhi

And about her book...

http://www.catbordhi.com/socks_soar.html

And finally, these are the online video instructions I used for the three needle bind-off:

http://www.knittinghelp.com/videos/casting-off

Go to the page and scroll all the way to the bottom. There is a video demonstrating the three-needle bind-off in Continental and English Styles, I knit Continental. This is a great site to learn techniques you might read about in a pattern, but have no idea how to do it. For example, when someone ends their pattern (like this one I used) with the instructions, "Graft sts. together ( I used 3 needle bind off). Sew in loose ends." And you say, "Huh?" Then just go to the site above and you'll find out how! It's an easy way to bind off, makes a nice seam too. It's also the bind-off I use when attaching knitted arms to the bodies of my knitted sweaters.

Ok, that's enough, your brain my be full and mine is empty. Must have more coffee....

  • Doing first sock! done heel and turned it but I am a left handed person pick knitting right handed! need a video on circular gusset and decrease. your video is very clear to see. Please, please, please will you continue your circular lessons for the whole sock?

  • @lizwashington1 Hi, great you got one sock done! I often get "second sock syndrome" and don't finishe the second one. So keep at it! ;-) Next time I make socks I will have to do the rest of the sock. I've been working on a baby blanket for my newest grandaughter. I'll be posting a vid of that tonight or tomorrow I hope! Gotta edit it still.

  • i love your video. very easy to watch; you don't talk to people like they are idiots like some knitting videos i've seen.

  • @zafdip LOL!!!! In my real job I'd get fired if I talked to every idiot like they were idiots, so I guess it now comes naturally! Besides, knitters, even beginner knitters, are NEVER idiots, only learning at different speeds. Some of us are visual learners (like me). Glad you enjoyed my vid. I hope to make more as the winter comes and life (hopefully) slows down!

  • where is the pattern?

  • @cdmaur Click the box beneath the video to reveal the notes and links about the video. Sorry it took me so long to reply!

  • If I had that much time to devote to making videos I would never get anything knit! I'm a vlogger first, these videos are just for fun, I'm not trying to out do any other knitting videos, hell, I don't even have time to watch others videos. If I wanted it to be a profession I would quit work...not going to happen. Please watch the videos with the spirit of fun they were made with...

  • I would love to see a video with you making the rest of the sock. I am a beginner and learned to do the ribbing with this video.

  • hI....Im really interested in seeing how you make the rest of the sock. im more of a visual person and it would be so helpful to see the rest of what you do. please and thank you.

  • Thank you for this video-it is so easy to understand! I am reading a Debbie Macomber book and there is a sock knitting class in it using circular needles that sounded interesting and now I'm going to make some socks! This method of casting on makes sense now! My granddaughters will love the new project to do with Oma(me!)! Loved the "booty shake"-something my hubby would do!

  • I've watched this video over and over and over again. I love the sound of your voice, such a pleasant change from the truly irritating voice of another instructor... And your laugh is infectious, thank you for making this segment. You've made a new friend. Have a great day!

  • @ravensky23 good video, but I too need to watch how to do the heel with two circular needles

  • Hi,

I am knitting a sock this way and when I do the flap the stitches that are supposed to be outside are on the inside....why us this ?

  • Thank you

My hubby brought me the new pathways by cat bordhi for Christmas, so this vid explains the cast on much better..

    Please bring us more...

    Happy holidays

  • Thank you so much! Yes, it still works :-) I can't wait to try these! My suggestion was for if you make another video, to make it easier for the viewer to tell which needle you're using. Thank you again for making this video!!! I can't tell you how glad I am not to have to attempt using douple points again (have never succeeded)!
