  • THe 4.7 is a good engine. Drove a '04 Ram 1500 regular cab shortbox with the offroad package. Nice truck, and would do burnouts to no end. :) Stock.

Sure if it were an extended cab heavy ass truck the Hemi would probably be better

  • @ChevelleSSLS6 - Its no secret that there is no replacement for displacement. But in my case I purchased the 4.7L because the HEMI was NOT an option in 2002. It the HEMI where an option I would have started with one. BUT Since then my truck is paid off and it was cheaper to build my 4.7L. So today it makes MORE HP then a HEMI and it would have cost more to make that power should I have chosen to go with a HEMI. + its more fun to HUMBLE the HEMI owners at the track with a 4.7L... LOL

  • nice truck but i think the 4.7 is too small for the size of the truck

  • @94STANG562 - Just towed a 7500lb car trailer from Fort Worth Texas to Miami Florida... and averaged 10MPG@ 65MPH. While on the trip I stopped at a state inspection/ weighing station and had it weighed. It rang in just over 12,325lbs with me in it. With that said, not once did I wish I had a bigger engine. From a dead stop to highway speed it pulled the 7500lb trailer without issue. How is a HEMI big enough for a full size truck but a 4.7L that makes more HP then a HEMI is not?

  • Why do this to a 4.7 though?

  • Why not? People seem to think that jumping on the HEMI band wagon makes them instantly fast, but when you build a 4.7L to run a full second quicker then a HEMI people as why? The 4.7L is a great engine, we can make MORE HP then a stock HEMI with bolt on's the HEMI has a full liter more. Its harder to make more HP with a smaller engine... there for its a challenge. Nothing is challenging about jumping onto a band wagon. Keep your eyes peeled for our 5.7L MAGNUM (SOHC 5.7L)!!!

  • 4.7 L is a good engine. Power is good for everyday driving.

  • @jeffs93z28 373 gears thats all it took for me and those gear's come with the tahoe, they only really work till 40 tho then the hp kicks in but ive only did roll's with the dodge's and beat them.

  • @Louisianamixtapeking Not if it is stock. I have beaten the 5.3 chevy. They run better than you think.

  • music off bra

  • @middsteve My favorite truck i wish ihad kept was a 94 dakota club cab with a 5.2 ,auto. I had duals,K&N intake, and a Mopar Performance computer .It ran like a scalded dog and wasted all the big fat ass "real trucks" it went up against. Also pulled my friends boat with it on a regular basis and it averaged 19mpg.One thing it wasnt though was "cute". Have you considered maybe your PCM is to blame for the wrong shift points?Hardly sems the fault of the motor to me.Course i never had a 4.7 either.

  • how much did those upgrades cost??

  • @ChevelleSSLS6 It might do burnout to no end but my 6000 pound Tahoe could leave it.

  • I have a 2004 dodge dakota rwd single cab with a 4.7 too. I cant find any mods except air intakes and headers and a jet chip. which is what i currently have. and any exhaust i find for it doesnt fit because all exhaust is made for the extended cabs. how did you do the turbo on the motor?

  • did you have cats?

  • how much much h.p are you pulling?
