@MenwithHill Only if you don't go back more than 200 years. A broader historical perspective shows that the concept of individual rights and a democratic franchise has come and gone serveral times throughout history and around the world. The notion that history is on the side of these ideas is a dangerous conceit.

By definition, history is progressist, it "progress" to give more rights. In the beginning of the last century, women could not vote and people had no vacation and syndicates barely existed. Can you explain me why in EVERY country of the world, people say that teacher are leftist ?
And, BTW, it's not really making things better that changing (imaginary) "liberal bias" with a conservative bias.

Leave it to Americans to try an re-write history. History is fact. You cant spin it to the left and you cant spin it to the right. Its the only thing left in the US that DOESN'T take a side.
