Can anyone explain me what's the reason to design that hedge of the engines in such a strange way? Reducing drag/noise?

@MrCriticOfAll Qantas pilots don't call them Scarebuses. It's known as the A180. You bring it out of maintenance and then do a 180 degree turn to tow it back into maintenance. Dispatch reliability of the A180's is woeful at best, and after the engine malfunction last year it looks like Nancy Bird Walton may be written off as it's proving difficult to get a dispensation to allow it to fly to Toulouse where both wings need replacement.
