George Gershwin (1898-1937) died far too young. He was a gifted pianist and composer of hit songs which became standards and jazz favourites. Gershwin's classical works include the opera 'Porgy and Bess' and piano concerto 'Rhapsody in Blue' plus 'An American in Paris' starring Gene Kelly in the film realisation.
