@firebirdhome Ronald Reagan's Alzheimer's was starting to kick in then, as I recall.

Actually, if we do end up with a totalitarian dictatorship - it will more than likely be a religious theocracy. Dictators tend to be pragmatic people, and official atheism has proven itself a lousy ideology for dictatorships (look how quickly Communism collapsed in the late 1980s.)
Religious lunacy works a lot better (think the "Islamic Republic" of Iran, the Taliban, Calvin's Geneva in the 1500s, medieval Europe under the Papacy/Inquisition, or any ancient despotism/monarchy you care to name.)

@cyberceltic I can not save myself with imaginary words of salvation the politics that surround my temple are assisted by contenders to the throne. My belief is this , I am not here by accident. Beyond that I think transcends man's ability to understand.

This is being taken out of it's historic context.
The reason the twilight zone maked atheism one of the features of the state is because it was made in the early 60's and communism was a "threat" to the united states.
There is nothing wrong nor evil with atheism, just as there is nothing wrong or evil with not believing in santa.

@firebirdhome Forgive me. It has been so long since my response to you I dont recall what I said. I basically agree with you, so that leads me to believe you may have misunderstood me, unless your response was not a rebutle. The reason I said I basically agree with you, is because its my experience that definitions of intangible entity are triune, being three parts/whole, existence, application, response. We may agree on matter defined but disagree on its application or the results of it, thanks

@Alexknowsbezt - now that is a clear definition. Well said....

@RacerXGTO - Stalin and modern China are Atheism in power examples, and butchery is the rule. Let's compare to the US/Canada where you are free to worship anything you believe or NOT believe, and you will not be killed... I like the nations founded on Christian laws first - no they need not be labelled Christian nations, but all the founding was on their principles, even freedom to those who believe nothing....
-
@Aurelian603 - Ronald Reagan stated - the day we are no longer a nation under God, is the day we as a nation have gone under.....

@KantorekBaumerB14 - and I agree every member of the state would cower the same way

@astonehunter What is good and bad was defined by Paul by saying if it wasn't for the Law, he wouldn't know what is. Basically any good/bad is relative. Unless there are absolutes - and there is no such thing as absolute relativity - that'd be just majority rules. Unless there is a Higher Authority of God, then we're sentenced to an existence of battling relativism. And that will not work, because no matter how liberal any claim to be, they will draw a line at something.
The title is misleading.

@PirateEyepatch I can't fully explain God or faith, nor can anyone. All I can do is choose what to do with the time I'm given. With that time I choose to live a moral life. I'm NOT saying I'm better than you, I'm sure you're a good person. To me religion provides a guideline to living a good life. It's when it's twisted by one's own prejudice that it becomes lunacy. All I can say is live like it's your last day and take care of the people who love you. Or don't. In the end, it's your choice.
