sir, this rig is an inspiration. I built one out of pvc and while it worked for the job, it was light and felt flimsy. I am planning on playing with one of your design because it is probably one of the best cheap DIY Video/DSLR rigs i have seen. Thanks for the inspiration!

Nice job putting this together, I wouldn't trust my DSLR on one but hey nice job. I've been using the Cam Caddie SCorpion with great success. It's very effective and sturdy for only $38. I highly recommend it.

Wow, thats really awesome!

How do you secure the clips into the tripod plate and still have it flat for the camera to sit on top of it? Is there a nut still there that is flush and I just can't see it? Did you somehow thread the holes in the tripod plate?
This design is freaking awesome, just trying to figure out the connection to the camera.

This is an incredible tutorial. You did a marvelous job on the design and construction; it is the best DIY rig set I've seen. Keep building my man... keep building.

Im building mine now. wondering about the space between the rails, 60mm from the dead center of each rail? 60mm from outside edge to outside edge?
thanks!
I would go for 60mm dead centre...

How did you get the base plates to space the pipe clips 60mm apart? And also how did you get the base plates to line up with the holes in the handle bars? Are the base plates a generic hardware thing or is it for camera/video equipment?

Copper is handy as it was the only 15mm tube I could easily find,, and you get plastic clips designed to hold (plumbing) onto the wall of a house. The plastic ones are great as they hold tight and yet easy to disassemble.

I don't suppose you could give lengths for the steel bar and pipes please?

Sorry Ive not got the rig now. I bought the bar from B and Q, about 1m, and cut it down to perhaps 500mm plus the bend. I bent it on a pavement edge and just cut it down by estimate for the overall design.
Id say for copper, start longer than you need, and as you build youll get an idea what you need, and can trim off the ends. Perhaps see what manufacturers sell, and go by that
