The food argument is Big Oil Propaganda. Less than .1% (make sure you see that decimal point) of all the corn grown is for human consumption. Got it? Corn is a bad choice because it is not an efficient source of sugar. Removing the starch from corn before it is then used as animal feed provides better nutrition for the livestock that cannot digest starches in the corn. Genetic engineering is NOT the answer either. That is the type of thinking that has permanently poisoned the food chain.

you are an idiot! After alcohol extraction, corn is the best food for animals! It have the same energetic value for pigs, cows, sheeps! So the corn crop can be used for original purpose!

FUCK ETHANOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@Cplai, one solar farm in AZ could supply the whole country? Cool. Reserve facility in a few states could store energy for rainy days, so to speak, like a back up generator of sorts, I think.

Seemed off topic, but hemps cellulose works well as fuel, without harmful effects was my point. I havent seen Food Inc, but friends say I wont wanna eat after watching it. I ll You Tube it tonight. Who Killed The Electric Car is a great film to purchase, while on topic of energy.

I dont believe in deforestation of the rain forest. The abundance of industrial hemp research, spanning the 1900s show for ex that 1 acre of hemp produces as 4 acres of trees, minus the chemicals like chlorine and dioxin that pollute our waters. As a species of the plant kingdom that grows in any climate, Siberia included, we have options. Hemps vivacious roots aerate, and replenish the soil with nutrients. As a food source, I honestly know nothing about corn syrup. Tesla is whom we must look 2.

Try making this type of fuel with marijuana ....
-
ethanol is stupid, it take nearly just as much fuel to make it as the amount it actually produces so it is not environmentally good

Nice video!

Personally, Making fuel with corn is not stupid and not inhumane.
Humans cannot digest all of corn, and we are making shitloads of corn each year which we do not need. Using the excess corn to make fuel is a good way to get rid of it. However, I do not disagree with the fact that we are using it to go to cars, which a lot of people do not need when they can just walk to where they get to.

Most tree huggers are just a bunch of whinney brats that've been over priveledged in life, but some of them do have realistic solutions to problems.
There's ones who bitch and protest, but there's ones who are worth listening too and should be taken seriously.

that fuy at the end is cool.
What kind of useless rhetoric would dare claim ethanol inhumane? Entire industrio agricultural jobs would be created. Psyche warfare manipulation is thrown in the vid by showing Mexican protest for corn tortilla price increases, as if to suggest that Americans might starve. More jobs, subsidies for farmers, elimination of fossil fuel pollution. To act as if US would starve because of corn use as raw fuel source is ludicrous. We d have to act as if the US is fighting a severe famine with corn!

@PayneReceptors Watch the documentary "Food Inc." on youtube and you may think differently. I don't object using left-over bio-mass for producing energy, e.g. the unused part of the corn plants after the kernels are removed for food should be used for Ethanol production. However, "Corn for fuel" that George Bush did was just wrong. No farm land should be used to "grow" for Ethanol. That will lead to tropical forest clear cutting and more devastation to Earth's eco system.

@PayneReceptors Corn is very bad for Americans' health. Many scientific researches associated American obesity crisis to the use of corn syrup in everything we eat. We probably be healthier if cane sugar is used instead. There are many alternative energy sources that do not require growing corn for fuel. A huge solar farm in the Arizona desert is powerfully enough to supply the whole country. The technical difficulty is to buffer the energy storage/usage between day and night time.

Successful ethanol engines have been around since Henry Fords time. Hemp has been used with great success as well. There is an abundance of alternative fuels and energy sources, but our greedy government lobbyist will never allow it. They would rather have high school graduates join the armed forces, and die to maintain the billion dollar monopoly that supports the one percent. God bless greedy America!

@PayneReceptors Well said. The congress betrayed the people who elected them. Vote them all out in 2012. We wanted changes and what's better than electing a new government?
