  • 1 person is alone

  • Some can sing as if G*d blessed their voices. Mrs. Staples is one of these. People use to say or write that these kinda singers could sing the phone book and they (people) would listen. I would listen to Mrs. Staples if she sang me quantum physics, not that the lyrics aren't great, dont get me wrong, her voice is just awesome in the best possible way: rusty, sexy and soulful.

  • every time I think about just ending it all, I listen to this and decide to stick around a little longer.

  • Saw her in Concert! :) (btw i am 14, and i have good taste)

  • She's still got it. Talent and style

  • Do you think that your superior entity is fooled by that star? Seriously what was the point of that.

  • Jeff Tweedy wrote this song.

  • applauds

  • I would seriously consider giving up at least five years of my life to have Mavis' soulfulness and ability to sing.

  • it's a religious song. Mavis is a gospel singer. It's referring to God--however that is understood by someone.

  • Guess she didn't get through to you?
