Steve Interviews Italian Golf Pro Guido Panzini-Pat Harrington Jr(Schneider From 70's hit show One Day At A Time),doing his Career Break through Character.Prior to this Paticular bit,the US Customs & immagration Dept actually checked for a port of entry on Mr.Panzini, then Allen & Harrington Finally had to come clean on the air and reveal Panzini's true idenity-a NY born & bred irish American Actor-Comedian.His "Italian broken english" was that convincing.Don Knotts as usual is hysterical as Panzini's sidekick caddie,& who's only line is the payoff climax of the whole skit. From 1958-59.

  • a couple of years ago i met up with an avid cyclist who had rebuilt a nice racing bike. i read the downtube: guido panzini

"who's that?" i inquired. and got the story about this guy. according to this cyclist (a big fan), the fbi caught wind of this character thinking he was really an italian, and for some reason opened a file trying to figure out who he was. anyone else heard this story?

  • Pat Harrington, Jr. (Or fils) is the only surviving member of the original group of players, which included Louis Nye, Tom Poston, and, of course, Don Knotts.

Without Steve Allen, there would not have been a Jay Leno.

  • I've always thought the funniest thing about his shows was when Steve laughed, like he did at 3:32. That cackle of his is infectious.

  • Go Don Knotts!

  • Now i know where the SNL Character Guido Sarduchi ripped off his act from.Harrington's early work is really wonderfull,From his Lenny Bruce Tribute,Beatnik Lawrence Welk,Irish Lord, and his spot on(though doubletalk)Italian dialect Panzini character here. Thanks so much for the posts.
