Never before heard conversations between the late, great George Carlin and his friend and co-author, Tony Hendra.
George Carlin: I describe myself as lonely. Im lonely for people like me. And I dont find a lot of them. Youre a kindred spirit, its amazing how many minor and somewhat major parallels we have in our lives and experiences, and as it turns out values and attitudes as well. In spite of this theology Ive worked out for myself which is that I am greater than, lesser than, and equal to the universe for the three reasons I gave, ya know Im greater than it because I contain it in my mind, Im lesser than it cause thats obvious, schmuck, and Im equal to it because Im of the same atoms it is. And I always say that what that does for me is connect me to everything and make me a part of it. I honestly believe that it is all one spirit, all one energy, all one beat, and that there are just these different manifestations of it. Because of that I feel very, safe, in the universe. I feel comfortable and very at home, because it is only me and, hey, its only me remember that? Hey! Its only—no its ok! Its only me! Well, thats the universe says to me. None of this shit can scare me cause, hey, oh, oh its only me. No fuckin problem. In spite of that, I still feel lonely.
Tony Hendra: Gods lonely.
GC: Theres only everything. And to wonder, we have loneliness, cause were only everything. There just nothing else.
TH: Now are you actually claiming to be God? Or—
GC: No! No, not at all.
TH: Youre saying youre less than God, youre greater than God, and this God is just an idea, youre a monotheistic comedian?
GC: If the mono part, yes, but the theistic part I dont accept.
TH: Ok.
GC: Its uhh—
TH: Theres nothing outside of you that is an intelligence that is responsible for you in some way.
GC: Not that I can glean. And, and, the degree of intelligence would immediately come into question if I were to attribute that
I always hoped that George Carlin will be my Tour Guide in Heaven!

The funniest guy, and one of the smartest, I have ever seen. Bought George's albums since I was 10 or 11 and have been a huge fan ever since. An amazing talent who will be greatly missed. I often find myself in situations where someone or some organization is trying to bullshit the masses into going along with him/them for their benefit and I smile because George would call them on it 4 sure.

I don't need to believe in god or gods to see good in the universe or to be good to things in the universe.
