This was the explosive demolition of two blocks of flats at Pollokshaws, Glasgow at noon on Sunday, 30th August 2009.
These flats were bult by the council in the 1960s, on the site of the largely demolished Pollokshaws village which was composed mainly of early 20th Century tenements. The tenements which weren't demolished in the 1960s are still standing. The flats were in such bad condition that of 300 flats, typically only 5 or 6 would be fit for human habitation.

Shame to see them go, even if they were bad and unsightly. These would have been built in the 60's! Unfortunately they were built cheap and materials were no good, funny thing is though, the people who built these would have been given awards haha funny stuff. I suppose they would have been nice to live in when they were new, especially to see the view from the top but i guess it would have cost too much to repair.
