While Dennis Trident double-deck buses are common in Hong Kong and the United Kingdom and come in many types of bodywork, SBS Transit purchased only 20 units. When they were initially introduced onto the roads of Singapore they were impressive - fitted with Transit Media electronic destination signage (EDS) and operated on the flagship service Express 502.
These buses were fitted with the powerful Cummins M11-305E engine and the Voith DIWA863.3, which can really produce a lot of whistling sounds. However, in the recent years their state of maintenance have been left much to be desired. They tend to run on long-haul routes based in the North, such as Service 80 where a quarter of the fleet are assigned to.
