I've now started playing out of time. It works a treat!

Part 2 :Anyway Bunty I've already asked the chap who books the bands at our club to book you and your band...what is it called? I'll make sure I bring my clarinet to join you for a few numbers..you'd like that! Now Bunty, you were talking about ombuture in your last free lesson and but I'm still struggling to see what you do with your face to get the ombuture right.

Part 1 : Bunty it's a really wonderful service you are giving us traditional jazzers with these amazing free video lessons. For over 50 years I've been trying to sit in with visiting bands at our local club to fine tune my playing skills but it's a struggle! It's OK with bands on their first visit but the next time they come they have already sorted out their sets and can't change them to include a tune I know. They forget that we are paying them to play!

Bunty you are my hero!!!!

Thanks you for your comments, you are quite right that one does tend to get more of an 'Acker' sound when playing from ones left side. I suggest that you try playing from both sides of your embouchure so you can achieve the dynamic interest required in this genre. I'm so glad to hear that you love what I'm doing, I will certainly be continuing with my video advice sessions. Hope to hear from you again.
Part 3 : Can you give some face exercises which will help my ombuture on your next video? I've tried to see what you do with your face on your video Bunty but you are such an expert that you do it too quickly for me to see exactly what you do. Can you do it in slow motion so I can follow the shapes you make with your face? I look forward to your next free video lesson. Thanks for your help Bunty! It is good to see that the future of trad jazz is safe in your hands!

Lovely to hear from someone who obviously takes their trad jazz very, very seriously. Thank you for your comments, I will be addressing all of your questions over the next few weeks of instruction videos. Please be patient, and I'm sure that I'll be able to help you over the next month or so.
As for my band... It's called "Holme-On-Sprackley Stomping Dixieland Gravediggers"... But these days I go out under the more simple name of "Bunty Arkright's Foot-tappers" Keep me posted!
