Hate Is A Strong Word Ch. 39 {Part 2}

Out of nowhere, I started pulling him to the left side of the hallway so that we wouldn't get trampled, and stopped. He looked confused and I sighed, getting ready to explain things.
I looked down at the floor and said, "I have to talk to you about something."
"Are you going to break up with me? Because we just starting going out and I don't know what I could've done wrong already," He joked.
I chuckled and looked up at him. "No, no. That's not it. It's just this whole thing with Sydney," I paused and he kept looking at me, waiting. "Right after you left my house the other day, Sydney came over. We talked for a while and then you called me," He nodded slowly. "She said I could take the call..."
"But we were on the phone for a little over an hour," He remembered.
"Exactly. I just left her there for an hour. I called her right away and started to apologize. She said she wasn't mad and that everything was fine. But then Tony told me today that she seemed mad about something. And if I know my best friend, she's mad at me."
"You don't know that. She could be mad at somebody else," He tried to reassure me.
I shook my head. "No, she's definitely mad at me. I broke a promise. That doesn't go over well with Sydney."
"What promise?" Oh boy... Here we go.
"I promised her that," I hesitated. "that I would never ditch her for a guy," I said slowly.
He sighed. "Well if I would've known that Sydney was over-"
Damage control, I thought. "Hey, none of this is your fault. You had no way of knowing that Sydney was there unless I would've told you, and I didn't. I just thought you should know what's going on. But I promise, none of this is your fault."
He just looked at me for a second. "All right," He finally said. "Let's get to lunch."
