@pmarie2003 Ooops! Edit, I meant Valor, not Victor--that's a rat trap.

I'm watching this again to get in the mood. I bought an old Victor heater (online auction that starts with E) that is similar to the Perfections. I've ordered my paint, and am waiting for delivery! Now, if I could just find REAL red or blue tipped matches like they used to make, I'd be happy.

I got one from Craigslist, in nearly perfect condition, Model 725. Tested it with kerosine from Homedepot for ~$10/galon and found it surprisingly effective! The guy selling it was a local like-minded person. So it was two birds with one stone - a awesome heater and a great connection. Thanks as always!
Yankee i have a kerosene heater i have as backup, i cant use it all the time as its about $10 gal., there is a gas station which pumps it at $5 gal but it has a red die in it, ive heard the red die kills the wick or is otherwise not good for the heater is that true in your experience?

@avi614614 I have seen the price on the containers of kerosene in the stores and it is really expensive. I don't know why that is or who buys it either. I buy my kerosene from Fleet and Farm here in Minnesota (it's a farm store). It's K1 kero and clear as water, for about 4.20 a gallon with no TAX for home heating. I don't know about the dye and wicks. The idea of the dye ruining the wick makes sense to me though, I know they make fliters that can take dye out of fuel.

Being a fellow Minnesotan, where have you found the best place to get kerosene has been for you. I haven't been able to find many gas stations with a pump in the south metro.
