InuYasha (犬夜叉, InuYasha), full title InuYasha, a Feudal Fairy Tale (戦国御伽草子 犬夜叉, Sengoku Otogizōshi InuYasha?, lit. "Warring-States Fairy-Tale Book: InuYasha") (romanized as INUYASHA in Japan and sometimes Inuyasha), is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Rumiko Takahashi. It premiered in Weekly Shōnen Sunday on November 13, 1996 and concluded on June 18, 2008. The series follows a time-traveling middle school student, a half-demon, a lecherous monk, a fox demon, a demon slayer, and a nekomata during the Sengoku period as they seek to find all the fragments of the Jewel of Four Souls (Shikon no Tama) and to keep them out of the hands of evildoers, especially Naraku.

The manga was adapted into a 167 episode anime series produced by Sunrise. Masashi Ikeda directed the first forty-four episodes, while Yasunao Aoki directed the remainder of the series. InuYasha premiered on Yomiuri TV in Japan on October 16, 2000 and ran until September 13, 2004. The television run of the anime ceased without a conclusion to the story.

In 2002, the manga won the Shogakukan Manga Award for best shōnen title of the year.

  • Kagome is one of the best female characters of all animes I've ever seen.

Deep inside I hate Inuyasha just because he made her suffer too much for that Kikyo:|

  • Kagome... her kindness and serene presence is potrayed perfectly in the melody and the flute.

Yet her light-heartedness and fun-loving nature is represented by the light-hearted rhythm of the melody.

    This theme really suits her!

  • @EyotaWolfz and this comment reminds me of Bayonetta's classic weapons, the Scarborough Fair .

  • who cares about kagome and kikyo......sesshomaru-sama FTW

  • @MissNabiki Thank you! I'm so sick of people sticking the blame on Kikyo. The cause of Kagome's grief is Inuyasha's feelings for Kikyo, not Kikyo herself. Kikyo knows who she's in love with, it's Inuyasha that can't decide. Besides, I think people should consider the fact if Kagome's hurt when Inuyasha and Kikyo see each other every one in a while, can you imagine how Kikyo must feel? She's in love with Inuyasha too and he's never there for her when she needs him. -.-

  • @justraLLy14 ah, but was that really kikyo's fault? what i hate is everyone keeps saying, oh it was kikyo's fault for kagome being hurt so much. Is it really kikyo's fault for living, and existing? she had feelings as well, and really, it's inuyasha's fault. he doesn't have to go with kikyo, but he is just a two timer. one two timer, and two beautiful girls, the two timer would be the bad person. Anyways, did i mention I LOVE THIS ANIME?

  • :'(

  • woah. I get the chills! x.x awesome. and I totally agree with the top comments! ^__^ ♥

  • @shannaro90 It would've been a little plain now, wouldn't it??? Though the fighting scenes could have been managed much better

  • As a hungarian I know this instrument pretty good.

  • This song reminds me of "Scarborough Fair" from Simon and Garfunkel. (:
