@bacardilvr The movie WOULD have been a complete joke if they hadn't hired him since it was his idea to change the character into an African prince from the pimp it was written as. I'm sure the character of Dr. Gordon Thomas was his influence too.

I liked the sequel, "Scream Blacula Scream" even more than the original. We went and watched it at the movie theatre two nights in a row back in the day! I think youtube has the entire film online.
