There Japanese. It says at the beginning Booka is from Tokyo, which is in Japan. If you don't look at them and just listen, you can't tell they are Japanese...

I found about Petty Booka several years ago when they played at SXSW the first time. NPR did a bit on them, and I was hooked. The hard thing is trying to find CDs in a CD shop. Are they Hawaiian? Japanese? j-pop girl band? They kind of defy categorization, but I still love them.
