  • 96k a year is the head of the raf not a normal commissioned officer

  • thats the biggest pile of crap ive ever heard ! im ex RAF , and officers of all of the 3 forces start on just over 30K a year, and the commander at Camp bastion whos in the RAF will be on about 70-90K max just because of that responsibility ! most officers in all 3 services on average earn 40-50K max. so whoever told you that was talking absolute shit!

    Join the Paras, they're psychos.

  • @kramnodd9 Yes i no that. Ermm no it doesn't the role of a infantry soldier is to protect with by all means and that can mean killing.

  • @joshcboy

Killing isn't a game. This isn't the same as kids playing cowboys and indians. Your immature attitude suggests you aren't ready to join yet.

  • do they ever come under contact? ( other then from RPG's and stuff ) like do they ever get shot at or get a chance to kill? cos thats purely what i want to go in for. to experience combat and kill.

  • You would think that if you were in the RAF regiment and an ex acf cadet then you would have more experience when out in the field or with shooting than if you were in the atc

  • im a CI and i was chatting to my Fl Lt and he said that certainly used to be the case 'space cadets' and all that but its changing as current serving personnel are now ex cadets and so obviously know what the ATC can offer.

as a footnote a cadet in our sq has sposorship through A-levels as a pilot! he wouldn't have done this without being part of the ATC!

  • Yeah, they say being in the Air Training Corps help. The RAF hate them. Take that from a cadet himself!

  • it is something like 15,000 ppl apply a year and only 20 are selected, not having a degree and wanting to be a pilot is very hard! unless you happen to be the son of ACM, or something. It says 2 a-levels but the applicants who stand a chance have a BSC and probably been at ATC as well.

however for other officer divisions its much easier.
