I took Dahlia to Wiebe Dragstra, her trainer in NC, about a month ago. She loves him because he is the carriage driver. Which means he is her buddy - they are part of the same fraternity that the rest of us cannot quite get into. Wiebe is exercising her for the IBOP test. They are not supposed to judge her on looks - just performance - but they have a hard time with that. Dahlia is a short, chunky mare. She really does look like a Friesian - one from 1950. She cannot seem to get trim, no mater what Wiebe does. So, I am not sure how she will fare in her scores. But no matter. If nothing else, for 6 weeks she gets to be a harness horse. And a happy one at that.
Today I went to visit Dahlia and watch as she and Wiebe played. If a horse could laugh, she'd be laughing. Or, at a minimum, she'd be yelling "wheeeeee!"
if she was for sale i would buy her!=D

Playing ????? that is hardly playing Lady , maybe I should hoock you up with a bit like that in your mouth and such jhard work and you tell me how much fun you have ??? everything you say is so " la deeda " the reality is that these horses work hard ... no play .... especially when they are ridden and pull on hard in double bridle with their face on their chests ... is that play also ... PLEASE GET REAL

You do not know me. You do not know my horse. You do not know my farm. I never use a double bridle. My horses are happy and Friesians do like their work. I usually ignore stupid comments but in this case, you are really a complete ass.

She's a lovely mare & mover! Can't really see the "short & chunky" in this vid. :-) Probably due to her great frame/carriage!

What a nice comment. Dahlia is doing very well. I will breed her this spring for the third time. I still have Tara, her first born, who will be 3 in April. I cannot wait to see if Tara loves driving like her mom. Somehow I think she will.
