In 1984, one hundred and seventy four taonga and a group of kaumātua travelled to the USA. They were there to support Te Māori an exhibition of sacred Māori taonga.
This exhibition is also the genesis of our own taonga, Waka Huia. Twenty five years after the opening of this exhibition in New York Waka Huia celebrates Te Māori.
