Yesterday a fly crawled over my monitor but when I tried to shoo it away I recognized that it was between the backlight of the monitor and the panel. It was about half a milimeter deeper than the pixels of the mouse arrow.

Fortunately I did not push the panel and the fly left the monitor by its own ;-)

PS: I have the Dell 24" LCD, obviously there is enough space in the corners for a fly to crawl in...

  • @gevelegian yeah lure it to the centre of the screen and kill it so that you have a "black dot sight " in FPS games :D

  • Wow that would make me go insane. I hate killing them (I like insects) and can't afford to do computer surgery on my screen to remove it. I guess you should treat it like a virtual pet =P

  • LOL this is JUST happening to me now. I posted my video. Same kind of fly too.

  • @tokolafane

¬¬ I did, anyway Fred is no longer in my laptop =D took 5-7hours for him to come out and i tried turning off the laptop with alamp nearby and that didn't work =/

I'm so glad he's gone because I think dismantling a laptop screen is far harder than a moniter.

  • @Chazzy0x0 Ha :P Call it Fred

  • Hey I have 17" laptop which is also a Dell and I've currently got one the the little buggers in my screen at the moment...it won't go away!!

  • @Szkazi LOL and get some in your mouse too for aimbot!

  • @Flyntendo Hi mine had a metal pressed frame around the screen assembly i lifted the little lugs all around untill it came away, i then gently lifted the outer screen up been carefull of the ribbon cables.

    Hope that helps

    Cheers

    Andy

  • @avgasandy Same problem as of last week (axcept my fly is un-squashed), I'm not sure how to go about taking my screen apart, seeeing as it has no screws. How did you take your screen apart - Do you think there are screws behind the front panel? (My screen is the LG W2242S)

  • Rebuilt monitor in reverse to taking apart plugged back into my PC and now i have a clear picture again.

  • I have just had the same problem had about 20 harvest flies in my screen children then pushed the screen against them leaving little blobs all over.

Had to take casing off the monitor disconnet the electrical leads x 5 in total to remove lcd screen from PSB, then i took the metal surround off the screen and lifted the outer making sure i did not damage the ribbon cables. With a soft clean cloth clened the inside of the lifted portion and the white background.
