Sorry for the crappy video, the battery in my camera died after first shot. The recoil is indeed fierce, I could fire only 8 rounds, even with that rifle recoil pad my shoulder still hurts. The Lee slug produced 442 m/s (1450fs). That is 2768Joules (2041fp) of energy if I calculated it right.

  • I have a IZH 18M-M , Very Similar to yours. How did you determine the year it was built?

  • @Fatmizzle2009

The year of manufacture is stamped on a barrel.

  • ok I have a baikal izh-17 12 gauge. How old is this. Mine is in a pretty bad condition because there is rust on it. Its hard to get it open no matter how much I scrub off the rust and oil it. I've never fired it and I think the stock is loose but only so much that you notice a faint clicking noise from the wood when you open it.

  • @Micro8Bit

This one was made in 1965 and is in excellent condition. You have to show it to a competent gunsmith to find out if it is safe to be fired.

  • Wonder why it recoils so bad? Any 12 gauge with a good recoil pad is very mangeable to me. It looks very nicely finished though.

  • It weighs around 2700g and the load I was using was quite hot, the butt plate is of hard plastic or bakelite, my recoil pad did not help much. You are right, the fit and finish is quite good.

  • I have a baikel single barrel, i love it to bits, best gun i have. recoil isn't too bad once you have a good stance. range is very good on it too. Due to only 1 shot you have to become decent fairly quickly.

  • shotgun

  • @LRooster4Prez

That gun was my friend's, he sold it. Hope the man who bought it can stand the recoil.

  • @yevgenz Take the butt plate off and fill the counter sunk bolt hole with shot. Place a piece of duct tape over the hole replace the butt plate. We call it a dead mule, it seems to reduce recoil
