I have a question. Would you rather have a SINGLE ships that DOESN'T belong to humanity or an entire FLEET of ships that DOES. You don't actually believe the Council is actually going to jump to humanities defense even though we saved them did you? They actually want US to do stuff for THEM in order to get THEIR help. They want us to work for their help even though if the positions were reversed you (the people who are paragons that is) would have gone to help them no questions asked.

i know this decision will come and bite me in the ass in me3 but in me1 it was the most logic choice if i saved the Destiny Ascension and then the alliance wasn't able to defeat soverigen then the reapers would have come and everyone would have died

Ah yes, the 'Destiny Ascension', a dreadnought of allegedly unmatched power carrying the Council and requiring assistance. We have dismissed that claim.

@VittleVoom Saving it's the only common-sense solution. One, you keep the LARGEST non-Reaper ship in the galaxy on hand which will be invaluable in that final battle, Two, humanity becomes heroic, Three, the remnants of the Citadel fleet will help take down Sovereign.
This really was the only solution. That said, I can't wait to go "Ah yes 'Reapers'" on the Turian Counselor. :D
