Most over-the-counter drugs treat symptoms, not causes...some of them (homeopathy, for example) by using the placebo effect rather than using any actual therapeutic agent. Using any kind of over-the-counter drug that I’m aware of will not expose grandma to fewer microbes. It’s more important to educate your family on the proper way to cover coughs (with your elbow or upper arm, not your hands) and wash your hands (frequently, holding them under running water for at least 20 seconds).

Homeopathic medicine is no worse or better than traditional medicine. Either can help or harm you. People in America aren't diligent enough about their own health and do not take enough time to research for themselves. If someone told you they were taking willow bark tea for a headache would you laugh at them or question if it actually worked? The drug industry in America is driven by profit. If a readily available plant or supplement can cure something it will be vilified to protect profits.

I think you're missing the bigger picture. There is NO medication that can cure a cold. The symptoms can be alleviated but the "contagiousness" remains. That's what you should tell them, you don't even have to get into the homeopathy debate.

hey. i think you should mail / email a study which disproves the effects of homeopathic "medicine". Act worried, be honest and line out your concerns. One thing you didn't mention, that I think is major: This stuff is really expensive and a gigantic waste of money for people who don't know any better.
But I think you should do something and you feeling bad about not engaging is justified. take the strong stance and argue with your family.

On thee other hand REAL medicine can be toxic and could potentially kill you or cause a heart-attack, so you;re damned if you do and damned if you don't.

''Our analysis of published literature on homeopathy found insufficient evidence to support clinical efficacy of homeopathic therapy in cancer care.''

Yeah, say something. At the least it will save someone some money. Great t-shirt BTW.

@healthyaddict You should have said something but not because she is actually in any danger. She is already receiving cancer meds and that bottle of sugar pills literally does nothing so she isn't in any danger. The perogative here is truth and treating her as an equal. By not speaking up, you passively prevented her from being able to make an informed decision and that is what is really bothering you. If you spoke up and she chose to take the pill anyway your conscience would have been clear.
Homeopathy works! I took a whole glass of it and it cured my thirst.

@howboutthisname Sadly, you speak in this video as if all homoeopathy is bad. Like religious people, you are just believing what you are told and not thinking for yourself. I'd trust a Chinese herbal mixture that has undergone 3000 years of use at lot quicker than something that was pushed through a testing lab so profit could be made. I am educated in science but also realize that not everything in the world has been tested in a lab and that some things that were had been corrupted by money.
