NC6 terrific unreleased version of Rap-A-Tap with Chic James great Dave Clark-esque staccato drumming. A picture video off the "Sides" Rareties CD featuring NC6 and RJM.

  • Could you say that Rap-A-Tap could have described Chic James excellent snare work in his career, too? Underrated pop rocker--I remember that this sounded big on WLS or WCFL back in the day...

  • Yes, you say that Rap-A-Tap could have described Chic James excellent snare work in his career. In fact, being a drummer (& other things) myself, I think he was superb, especially on their rockier tunes - (my faves) - and was at his best with RJM, the NC6 spin off rockin blues band (see RJM videos) under "dickeyboyz".

Sounds like Chic was inspired by the Dave Clark Five.

  • Check out the alternate "power-pop" version of this song that the New Colony Six released as the "B" side of their 1967 single titled "Treat Her Groovy" on the Mercury label... An excellent example of the versatility that The New Colony Six crafted in all of

    their recordings.
