@warhawk9566 It was estimated that had the invasion taken place about a million or more Japanese civilians and soldiers would have died. Our losses would be in higher of tens of thousands, with losses in the range of hundreds of thousands. Military historians have studied this matter and so the best course of action would have been a blockade using subs, mines, etc, to choke off the home islands and thus the coming winter would have killed millions more than actually died due to further starving

@kamikaze74zero We lost Vietnam because 1) it was not our fight to begin with 2) We fought with the wrong strategy. 3)The NLF controlled the rural areas, thus the population was against us from the beginning.

@warhawk9566 Not so much for their families, I'm not denying the fact they fought for them, but they fought mostly for the Emperor because they believed that if they lost, we would remove the Emperor.

@kamikaze74zero kinda was. trade means nothing with russia but russia could claim vietnam as an ally and claim they had to protect their ally. back at the time Russia was america's equivalent in military combat and russia had as many if not more nukes than us (at the time) neither country had enough to destroy each other but they both and enough to do a shit ton of damage. Again in Korea they would've made things worse. Nukes are only a peacekeeper when one and one country only has them

@warhawk9566 That is not enough proof for Russia to go in to war directly against U.S. and they would not want to do either they know really well also unless going to nuclear war they don't have any chance at all. And once again U.S. didn't use atomic bomb in Korea war north side is still in power.(Have you visit Japan?)

@kamikaze74zero because vietnam used the land better than we did. and the bomb wouldnt have helped it would've made things worse. even if it did force the vietnamese to surrender it would give russia an excuse to launch attacks, china an excuse to attack any bases we had in asian lands.

@kamikaze74zero no it wouldnt have. most of the japanese population dead and tens of thousands os US soldiers dead were the most optomistic predictions

with atomic bomb but if U.S. didn't use that and physically invaded to Japan it would have been worth.

@kamikaze74zero im not against US military but i do believe if we invaded japan it would've resulted in a large number of the civilian population killed, intentional or not.
