This robot was developed by Nuvation Engineering for the 2008 Freescale Technology Forum. It was developed in just over 2 months.

The robot is shown in an early test in the lab. It uses custom embedded algorithms we developed to predict where the puck will go based on its current location and velocity vectors. These algorithms predict the puck motion even through several bounces, and have worked out very well.

The robot has proven to be nearly impossible to score on for the average player, and was a great hit at the conference.

  • i played this today i beat the robot twice the trick is to aim for the sides like the left or right side and shoot hard and you will beat the robot thats what i did today and i beat him but the robot is a big challenge

  • I love how it slowly pushes it. It's like giving you a chance to try to hit it as accurately as you can but he knows you'll fail anyway.

  • “So far, the robot has defeated every human opponent running in 32-bit mode, averaging three times as many goals as human players”

Clearly both human software and hardware could do with some upgrades.

  • That's erie, especially the pauses.

  • its defense seems impenetrable, and it's attacks are accurate but sluggish. surely they could just increase that situational speed?

  • "Hi,

How much would you be willing to pay to play against an air hockey robot?

    Just curious.

Also, what would you pay to play it if it was in an arcade? "

I'd pay 20-50$ just to play it.

In an arcade it'd have to compete with the non robotic tables, so 1$ a game sound fair.

  • OH my god!!!! How much do I have to pay to play your Fanuc airhockey robot!!!?

  • la wea imposible

  • Hey Mo,

Very cool project. Its clear that your development skills are better than your air hockey skills :)

    Very impressive work, buddy!!!
