You hit it on the head man! You could also Grudge with a buddy Damn it was great. I grew up in Harvey and a good friend took me back to the strip in 08, got some pics on posted on google, I'll post a link. I had music in the vid but got busted and had to take it out...LOL

who owned the land US30 Dragstrip was on before it became US30 Dragstrip?

The reason US 30 closed, Was told to me by my then girlfriend, Who lived just east of Clay street, Where US 30 was located. US30 started bringing jet engine racing vehicals to the strip. When this happened, Clay street would have to be closed, Due to the jet trail and heat blowing across Clay street. That, coupled with the fact that fighter jet engines were LOUD as all hell. The residents complained to the county, and were able to get the drag strip closed.

My grandfather used to race here. The track was closed before I was even born! But just a fe weeks ago I drove out to the old track and it's still there!!! Just lots of grass and weeds! But history lies right there on 7820 clay st. in holbart, indiana

I grew up working at Esserman Dodge with Harold and Johnny Sitko in the mid to late 60's...they had a '55 Chevy Super Stock that had great ET's. Also loved working and being able to drive those 440 Darts w/ Super Bee Six Packs in them...and let's not foret those awesome Dodge chargers w/ 426 Hemis as a mill. I spent every Sunday at U.S.30 Dragstrip. Also miss "No Big Thing" a Vespa car body sitting on top of a 327 Chev mill...that was it too! Great memories !

Man, I grew up working for Harold and Johnny Sitko at Esserman Dodge in Chicago Heights, IL. Harold's team had a '55 or '56 Chevy Super Stock that was awesome for it's ET's...I'd love to have those days back again...also miss "No Big Thing". It was a trip workign for a Dodge dealer in the mid-late 60's...Gotta love those 440 Darts w/Super Bee Six Packs in 'em. Not forgetting those unbelievable Hemi's.

I ran there in the early 70's. Was a great place for the average guy to run. A lot of money was bet on the side. You could run your car and get a cheap trophy. Part of the coolness was after the race come back to the neighborhood with your class written in the window with white polish and your trophy in the back seat.
