Couldn't agree more with the learn all styles comment. I'm a blues player and well into middle age but I still learn as many country, and metal (shredding) licks as I can. Shredding has its place in blues albeit a limited place but good picking, technical skills and the ability to cover the entire fretboard is valuable in in style of music.

you do pretty good at playing "countresque",,no mater personal taste be it ,jazz, rock, indie, or noise, country guitar has a certain appeal, check olur Eugene Chadbourne for a twist on the style.
