In this lesson you will learn 4 new verbs, nomimasu, tabemasu, mimasu and kikimasu and how to correctly use them in sentences.

Vocabulary:

nomimasu = to drink
tabemasu = to eat
mimasu = to see, to watch
kikimasu = to hear, to listen
nani = what
ashita = tomorrow
kyou = today
kino = yesterday
eiga = movie
kohi = coffee
suteki = steak
ringo = apple
rajio = radio
nihon no ongaku = japanese music
terebi = tv
miruku = milk
wain = wine
kupukekki = cupcake
ka = used at end of sentence to form question
o = particle used after object
hai = yes
iie = no

Sentence structure:

time + object + o + verb
time + nani + o + verb + ka (to ask what someone is eating, drinking, listening to, watching)

  • I grew up in Japan so I just listen to these videos and it all comes back. Hope to get fluent again. So much easier than learning from books or finding someone to converse with you in Japanese.

  • @WorldisArt Tabemasu simply means to eat which would be too vague to indicate who is eating. If a person makes a gesture before eating then says tabemasu then that is acceptable to show the one with the food will be eating, but it would be better to say who is eating for clarification. Watashi wa tabemasu yo (I will eat it), aitsu ga tabemasu yo (he/she will eat it), watashitachi wa tabemasu yo (we will eat it), aitsutachi ga tabemasu yo (Those guys/girls will eat it) ("Yo" isn't necessary).

  • is there a main rule to making any verb progressive i noticed when you helped me out last time you turn watching mimasu to mite imasu watching please let me know

  • @shikanda25 You might want to refrain from saying "Jap." It's considered rude by most people.
