This is an impromptu 1993 musical get together by two long time Texas friends. Wayne is accompanied by (the late) Don Watson. Wayne is playing his 1930's, six string, Rickenbacher, Bakelite, lap steel guitar which is clearly identifiable by its RICH and FULL, mellow TONE, something most musicians would kill for. Wayne is a popular and well known musician and has played with many notable country music stars including (the late) Goldie Hill (Mrs. Carl Smith).
Wayne is using the famous JERRY BYRD C6th/A7th tuning

  • This 16 minute video includes: "Steelin' the Blues".......a popular JERRY BYRD instrumental performed in Jerry's own style. Don Watson then sings "I Saw My Castles Fall Today"....with Wayne demonstrating excellent back-up to the vocalist in the traditional classic country style. Being a Hawaiian Steel Guitar it is only appropriate that Wayne includes "Aloha" in fine island style. Don's next vocal is

"Don't Live a Lie" followed by an instrumental number.

  • This video shows my good friend Gentleman WAYNE TANNER of Belverde, Texas, at his fabulous sounding mid-30's, 6-string, Rickenbacher, tuned to C6th/A7th. Wayne was a long time personal friend of JERRY BYRD and has claimed to be his #1 Fan. Wayne has enjoyed a colorful musical career, having played with many regional country-music stars including Goldie Hill. The TONE that Wayne has demonstrated in this video is what many of us have sought for most of our lives. None of my Ric's can do it.
