My personal take on the movie "The Wrestler" staring Mickey Rourke, Marisa Tomei, and Evan Rachel Wood. Directed by Darren Aronofsky (Requiem for a Dream). Written by Robert D. Siegel (New writer from the WGA).

  • The director had the script and story of this film since the time he was in college you idiot. He didn't copy anything .... get your facts straight.

    Doubt it.

Do you believe everything directors and writers say? What about George Lucas? Do you believe everything he says?

You have to be pretty naive to believe them at face value.

Also, Beyond the Mat was done in 99, Robert D. Siegel is fresh out of the guild and fresh out of college.

    Get YOUR facts straight, "IDIOT".

  • @FloydofOz I saw "Behind The Mat" when it first came out - a great documentary. But if you know anything about wrestlers you realize that there is a certain life style and story that is not that uncommon in the profession. "The Wrestler" is another whole kind of beast with some of the greatest ACTING you'll ever see. Really a one-of-a-kind movie which should have won even more awards than it did. The Golden Lion Awards in Venice wanted to give it both best movie and best actor.

  • For what it's worth, I'd never heard of behind the mat. I just added it to my Netflix cue, thanks! I watched the Wrestler with two other friends. We were all very moved by it. A good test of a movie's greatness is the emotional reaction it draws from the viewers. I really felt for the guy in this one. One of the saddest movies I've ever seen. Ever since seeing it I always recommend the movie to the guy at the deli counter.

  • you should really lay off the coke when you do a movie review.
