My third awareness poem is about Asthma.
I actually have asthma so this poem is once again personal to me!
I hope you like it.

Your chest is tight- something aint right
and you feel dizzy and light headed!
You panic and fret and cant breathe properly
and you reach for your inhaler
and all may seem fine but you dont care.
You just want to breathe fresh clean air
to get rid of the rough, scratchy stale intakes
polluting your nose and lungs.
And then all becomes fine
And you suck in the air and it takes a plunge
and cleans out your airways
to help you breathe again!
Its a weird feeling to try to explain
and youll never know what its like
nothing repeats as the same- its always different.
Ive never experienced it as an attack
but I suffer from it.
And even if it lasts a few seconds or minutes
you feel weird, rotten and different
but you quickly learn your limits.
And Ive gotta get on with life
and to deal with it- bit by bit.
Ive got to hope it doesnt get worse
it can hopefully only get better.
I dont want my airways to fully close
to stop me thinking, breathing, crying
And my inhaler not being able to provide enough of a dose.
I dont need in constantly all the time
but I do need it with me incase Im not fine.
So if Im puffing away on my little blue inhaler
just stop and think
of the danger asthma does cause
and breathing is something to be grateful of
and if you do take the time to think and pause
of all the asthma sufferers
well all be grateful deep down.
Caring can show respect and love.
But Asthma is just something we suffer from!

It describes asthma well, I too suffer from asthma I feel the pain, discrimination and stereotypes that we all face. Its not right that people make fun of asthma.
