if you are curious you could read the book "Pat Metheny" by Luigi Viva (I'm french and had read it in italian, I don't know if a english version exists). In this book, Metheny, who seams a very perfectionist man, said that he was unhappy of his collaboration with Schlesinger. (lack of time,...).

For me, all Metheny's albums sound as soundtracks (for all titles you could imagine images, landscapes, funny or sad stories,...).
