This is a fuller (three times the length), higher-quality, version of a film put up two years ago.

The film was made in 1999 in Kyoto by Windfall Films. Please see www.alanmacfarlane.com under 'Global History' for details and other films. The camera man was Robin Probyn

The book JAPAN THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS by Alan Macfarlane explores the mysterious context to this film. It can be found at http://tinyurl.com/2pjyxu

  • @Fartikist But she isnt a Geisha yet she is a Maiko.

  • @nethanbabes it says maiko OR trainee Geisha, doesn't state confidently that she is indeed a geisha, duhhhhh title :P

  • @Fartikist Well.. duh o.o it even says so... title?

  • Shes a geisha you can tell by the her white color and the way the back of her neck is painted. Shes very lovely :)

  • @Lynnieeeeee it's more about culter then anything else japan women been doing this for years

  • @KatjasHumanoid483 hell yes..............the same asshole that chose the music...

  • To bad the music is the modern Japanese, as it truly ruins the authenticity and some of the video.

  • este video es herrrmosoooooo

  • why do you keep filming her feet?

  • @Lynnieeeeee Why do people wear high heels and platform shoes when flat soles are so readily available? Why do people wear short shorts and g strings and skin tight jeans? Clothing is much less about functionality and much more about personal expression. Also, an everyday casual kimono outfit wouldn't involve nearly so much effort. She dresses so ornately because it's part of her job.
