Growing up in the Mission district of San Francisco, Che Rivera (Benjamin Bratt) has always had to be tough to survive. Hes a powerful man respected throughout the Mission barrio for his masculinity and his strength, as well as for his hobby building beautiful lowrider cars. At the same time hes also a man feared for his street-tough ways and violent temper.

A reformed inmate and recovering alcoholic, Che has worked hard to redeem his life and do right by his pride and joy: his only son, Jes, whom he has raised on his own after the death of his wife. Ches path to redemption is tested, however, when he discovers Jes is gay. In a rage, Che violently beats Jes, disowning him. He loses his son and loses himself in the process. Isolated and alone, Che comes to realize that his patriarchal pride is meaningless to him, and to maintain his idea of masculinity, hes sacrificed the one thing that he cherishes most the love of his son.

To survive his neighborhood, Che has always lived with his fists. To survive as a complete man, hell have to embrace a side of himself hes never shown.

From writer/director Peter Bratt comes La MISSION, a 5 Stick Films, Inc. and TomKat Films production. Produced by Benjamin Bratt, Peter Bratt, and Alpita Patel and executive produced by Tom Steyer, Kat Taylor, and Dan Nelson, La MISSION stars Benjamin Bratt, Erika Alexander, Jeremy Ray Valdez, Jesse Borrego, and Talisa Soto Bratt. The supporting cast includes Kevin Michael Richardson, Patrick D. Shining-Elk, René A. Quiñonez, Ruben Gonzalez, and Max Rosenak.

The talented behind-the-scenes crew includes director of photography Hiro Narita, production designer Keith Neely, editor Stan Webb, costume designer Aggie Rodgers, composer Mark Kilian, and casting director Victoria Thomas.

  • I don't see what's so bad about homosexuality especially within the Chicano/Mexican communities.. back in Pre Columbian times homosexuality was common & not looked @ as a taboo with the Aztecs, Mayans, Quechuas, Moches & Zapotecs. But I guess in my theory when the Spaniards came & conquered them they punished people who practiced homosexuality & sodomy by death & we got that homophobia from the gabacchos

  • to HOMOPHOBES, if you're so damn secure about yourself, that you're perfectly straight, why turn off the movie? stupid fucks too scared to watch the whole damn movie and move on. watch the whole movie or fast-forward.

  • @bluemew88888 im white or as i refer to myself mixed race irish, scotish , and cherokee indian and i currently live with my latino ex and his family and im chasin after a new latino guy. the family im with is very openminded but most of them are yunger all but 1 are 40 or under. its the older generations that have issue but in time things wil change. many latinos r catholic wether practicing or not and u know what catholics think of gays thus that why some latinos aint ok with gays

  • @LuvPeaceSkeetCheese you are very right and same thing happened with usa an exact mirror. see indians here as well including my ancesters the Cherokee actually revered gays they called them two spirit. but the whites came over just like spaniards did in mexico and the brought their judeo christian beliefs with them and incorperated what they interpreted in their bibles as laws and beliefs. luckily as time goes on all races are realizing gays are normal and natural -------

  • one of the best movies he acted on!

  • I started watching this movie and I was all into it! omg I can't wait to finish watching it!!!!

  • @ciscokidseven No problem :)

  • @Scoreonfour Your right, but that movie won't even come close to La Mission's Popularity.

  • Please. Drag queen or plain gay. It's the same story. A Latino toughguy gets out of jail to find his son is gay. It's a rip off.

  • @Scoreonfour Not really that movie is about a young drag queen. The guy on La Mission is just gay, and he dosen't want to dress like a chick.

  • There's a new movie coming out called GUN HILL ROAD. I swear it's an EXACT rip off of this movie.
