The thing I noticed about Clapton is that his vibrato is the best when he is playing a Gibson. When he went to Strats, it changed, he is not doing the "wrist rock". My favorite Clapton vibrato is on Fresh Cream and "Double Crossing Time" on the Beano album. Those two albums also have what I think is some of his best tone ever.

There's no question about it: Clapton had one of the best vibrato techniques I've ever heard. Not too fast (ex Bloomfield) or too slow.

I'm also one of many that feels his best tone and technique were during the Cream days.

@englishbluesman vibrato is meant to be played by the player. there is no rule.,each players style is what makes guitars "magical". the players touch. you take what you can from here and there to develop your own style.

A post on finger vibrato and no one gives credit to the undisputed master..... Paul Kossoff! The finger vibrato is what gives a guitarist their signature sound but for pure speed and intensity Kossoff is king.
