In scotland only a quarter of a million people even make a profit for the government most make a loss in terms of tax and spend. The same is true over the UK. The people paying these taxes are the elites. All you're doing is falling for the trick of divide and conquer. The rich will convince the working classes to stop the elites subsidising the mid class to go to UNI, so destroy the middle class, then the smaller middle class will say why should the working class get free education if we don't.

No the middle classes pay more in taxes, that is a fact. Some working classes get tax credits and fair enough. What and working class people don't pay taxes? The Working class pay a higher proportion of their incomes in tax than either middle or upper class parents. If you want your kid to go to Uni and you are well off then you should pay more because you can. The idea that everyone has an equal chance to go to University is rubbish. Where you went to school and who your parents are go a long way in determining your future. The idea that the Government should fund ALL University places free is a joke!

What if you have middle class parents who do not want to pay for your education so the working class kid gets free education while the middle class one does not. It is a bull shit argument. No asshole take money from the rich through abolition of charitable status for private schools. Take it from the middle class by culling most of the assaholic courses little Tabitha and Tarquin sit. Take that money and encourage working class kids who are bright to go to University. They should have most of the fees paid for them. Also rich kids and the middle class SHOULD pay more their education as they can afford it. Isn't that fair? Free education is a myth someone always pays.

Education in the UK is just an extension of the class system. If you are rich you go to a private school. A middle class kid you go to a very good state school in a nice area. If you are working class you are left with the dregs. There is no such thing as a free lunch or a free university education someone has to pay namely the taxpayer. More money should be spent on working class education and charitable status abolished for private schools. Universities are now a middle class ghetto anyway.
