LOWES WANTS YOU TO SAVE A LOT OF MONEY BY SEALING YOUR DRIVEWAY YOURSELF SO YOU CAN SPEND YOUR MONEY AT LOWES BUYING A BUNCH OF JUNK TO DO IT AND THEY NOT TELL YOU THAT THOSE FILLERS IN THAT SEALER WILL CRACK PERFICTLY GOOD ASPHALT, BUT WHAT DO I KNOW I ONLY BEEN PAVING DRIVEWAYS FOR THIRTY YEARS.
i install driveways for a living, and sealcoating is where ALOT of people waste alot of their time buying this garbage. the whole purpose of sealing your driveway is to water proof it. how can you waterproof your driveway if the sealant is made with water? yeah water based is cheaper and all, but its BAD for your driveway, its toxic to your skin and lungs, and it does NOTHING to your driveway. worse yet, if your drive is new, water based sealer will actually make it soft, creating cracks!
Good instructions, but too bad they didn't mention that one of the primary sealant materials, coal tar sealant, has been banned in many communities due to its toxicity. Just google "coal tar sealant ban" or "coal tar free america" for more info. You can search youtube for a series of videos about why this is a problem too. Type in "USGS coal tar" for those.
I have a hole in my driveway about 4" deep. At the bottom of the hole is loose gravel. Can I apply cold patch product on top of the gravel? Or should I put soil on top of the gravel?
Well i did this today. I checked the weather forcast and it said sunny in the 80s. Well as soon as i finished laying the first coat it started raining like a mofo. Anyways im wondering what sort of damage the rain might have done? Is all my hard work totally ruined now cause of the rain?
I have a question i am gonna paint a metal shed and i was wondering if i can get away with using sealer it doesnt have to be perfect i just want it to not crack or fad for a year or 2 you think i could do that? please respond!
@theslinx Really? I thought the guys did a great job. They only seemed to be around 20 years old, but before they even went into the actual sealing, they cleaned up my driveway, and then taped it up before they actually started on the driveway. Hahah, lets hope mine last more than one season, or Spring Masters Canada and I might have a problem.
were buying them cracks and that for nothing
