Maybe Starbucks should stick to what it does best, providing a place for LOSERS WITH LAPTOPS TO PRETEND THEY'RE WRITING A SCREENPLAY!

@smg7320 I agree with your thought that starbucks customers don't keep him grinding his teeth at night. That was never my contention, sir. Anyway, this is a silly argument to have b/c I too find starbucks coffee overpriced but if I were filthy rich like bill then I'd go for it b/c it is seen as a "differentiated product" in the eyes of the customer

@MetrazolElectricity I would say that, at least in this case (which I say to separate this joke, which isn't really his best, imo, from those he makes about organizations like the GOP), he isn't expressing his scorn as much as he is only making a joke about this new product and the company. I also doubt that he has any real, visceral hatred for the people who go to Starbucks.

@smg7320 of course he's not overtly calling for them to be not sold, that would be disastrous for bill. but this show is his vehicle for expressing his contempt for certain people and organizations, and he uses humor to sugar-coat his scorn

hmm ,disagree with bill. if starbucks wants to sell those coffees at exorbitant prices and people want to pay for them then fine. Using Maher's argument for marijuana legalization : it raises taxes and revenues. Keeps the capitalist machinery running. I doubt Maher himself ever hangs out in starbucks and observes these people. He' probably hangs out in his 5-star hotel and sniffs coke.
