Why must Americans be forced to subsidize private insurance companies?

If the President and Congress approve healthcare reform that subsidizes the purchase of private healthcare insurance for the uninsured or underinsured, or prevent any American desiring to pay their premiums to a public insurance plan, this in effect will be a direct transfer of taxpayer monies and wealth to the executives and stockholders of the private insurance companies.

I agree. This is not the European or Australian model in health care. In the Australian system, the private hospital system is subsidized, but private insurance is not subsidized. People choose whether to pay the Medicare levy, if they are over the tax threshold. This levy is progressive over the size of income. Why don't they cut the middle man? Its just funding the corporations again.
